The E-Z Riders work really well. With a locomotive on top of them is runs forwards and backwards on the free-rolling E-Z Riders while they are perfectly still. Great way to test a new loco. I would not use them to burn in a new loco as you want the real-world track contact during the burn-in phase, but for cleaning wheels or debugging issue, these are great!

Great product, too expensive
I built a model railroad and been working on it for about 10 years. I love the hobby and have collected a good amount of steam and diesel locomotives. One of the upgrades I had was to install a test track from programming DCC CVs, cleaning and testing. I’ve been looking to get this type of product for sometime to do exercising of the locomotives (I have a point to point layout). These fit the bill perfectly. They run well and fit the track perfectly. I keep them regularly maintained by using a tiny bit of oil on the bearings and to ensure the screws are tight. Why did I give this great product four stars? Way too expensive for the product and quantity. If you have a point to point layout recommend getting, but if you have continuous run, doesn’t seem like the price matches the product.

Very useful tool.
Easily check for problems in the drive systems of HO scale steam engines and diesel locomotives. No more setting the engine on it's side or flipping it upside down and putting power to the wheels to check for proper operation. Simple to use. Well worth the price.

Genius Design For Maintenance and Troubleshooting.
These work much better than I had anticipated. I've been able to run everything except for my BigBoy on these, and with another set I'd be able to run it! Great for testing during troubleshooting or for running after maintenance/oiling.

Almost as good a sliced bread.
A handy little device for static testing your locomotives. Really helpful if you have a bent crank pin or quartering problems on a steam loco. The only reason I didn't go 5 stars is they don't fit snugly on your test track and can twist a bit. If they weren't so pricy I'd buy a second set for my 2-10-0 and 2-10-2 locomotives.
