I usually wear a XL but chose the 1X against what the size chart said. I think I could have gotten away with getting the XL but the 1X worked

Looks Good, Decent for the Price
I received this last night and was pleasantly surprised with this item. The positives: the material, though light and sheer on the white side, is not as transparent on the burgundy; the majority of this dress is burgundy. The entire back of the dress is burgundy and has a full coverage back. This facilitates wearing the appropriate nude colored undergarments/shapewear for this costume if needed. As stated in other reviews, if nude undergarments are worn, they don't show through. At 5'5" it does skim the floor just a bit with me wearing flat gladiator sandals I already own, but thats part of the look. I don't think I will invest in any tailoring; if the length is just unbearable, a quick fashion-tape fix is possible. The negatives: these costumes do seem to run small. I'm a curvy size 12/14, but DD on top. Based on measurements I ordered the 2XL. The top was big and gapped a bit; use of the medallions (which are plastic) will be required to achieve the look in the photo and gather up the material a bit to close the gaps at the bust and underarm. However, from the empire waist down, its snug. Without the wrap around sash effect, I would be concerned. But the wrap sash does the work of concealing and drape in the right places. Thank goodness there is just a single 1/2 panel of white material due to transparency. The armbands are merely a scratchy piece of ribbon that only go 1/2 way around. The rest is just two thinner straps of black elastic used to compelete the circle of the band. They fit my arms but they only look right if your standing very still and in a forward looking position. Any real movement and its clear you have mostly elasic on your arms. The ends of the ribbon are scratchy and are beginning to fray. This will almost certainly bother me throughout the night so I may not wear them. Overall, I am glad I made this purchase. For the price it is a nice costume. The accessories, however, are cheap and take away from the overall nice look of the costume. The overall look is stylish and flattering to those that are curvy and busty and will look great for the party I'm attending.
