Dieses offiziell lizenzierte Daemon-Targaryen-Kostüm aus der House of the Dragon-Reihe spielt deutlich in einer anderen Liga als die üblichen Faschingskostüme aus der 30-Euro-Kategorie. Wer ein überzeugendes Kostüm sucht, das auf Anhieb Wirkung entfaltet und dabei über rein plakative Reproduktion hinausgeht, wird hier fündig – auch wenn das Kostüm stets als solches erkennbar bleibt und nicht versucht, sich als historisch wirkende Gewandung zu tarnen. Die Tunika ist aus schwarzem Samtstoff gefertigt, der angenehm schwer fällt und dem Kostüm eine gewisse Präsenz verleiht. Die äußeren Elemente, insbesondere die Ärmelpartien und die Besätze, sind mit einer gelungenen Lederoptik versehen, die Assoziationen an Drachenhaut oder etwas Echsenhaftes wecken soll – was in diesem Kontext gut funktioniert. Natürlich bleibt der Stoff als solcher beim näheren Hinsehen als Kunstfaser erkennbar, aber das stört nur, wenn man unrealistische Erwartungen an die Materialtreue stellt. Die roten Elemente kontrastieren sehr gut mit dem sonst dunklen Stoffmix. Der Eindruck aus mittlerer Distanz ist insgesamt stimmig und visuell reizvoll. Positiv hervorzuheben sind auch die Details: Die Schnallen mit dem Drachenmotiv sind aus Metall, präzise gearbeitet und wirken hochwertiger als das, was man sonst im Bereich der Kostümaccessoires häufig vorfindet. Der Doppelgürtel mit Kunstlederschnalle passt hervorragend zum Gesamteindruck und rundet das Bild ab. Ein kleiner Schwachpunkt ist allerdings der Verschlussmechanismus der Tunika: Hier wurde ein eher filigraner Hakenverschluss in Schmuckkettenmanier verwendet, der im Alltagseinsatz – etwa auf einer vollen Party oder unter Zeitdruck – nicht sonderlich robust oder praktisch ist. Mit etwas Sorgfalt funktioniert er, doch man sollte keine allzu dynamischen Szenarien einplanen. In Bezug auf die Passform lässt sich sagen: Die Größen fallen halbwegs europäisch aus, vorausgesetzt man bringt eine schlanke Figur mit. Bei Unsicherheit empfiehlt sich eher die größere Variante – das Kostüm lebt auch von seiner Silhouette und sollte nicht zu knapp sitzen. Insgesamt ist dieses Kostüm eine durchaus gelungene Lösung für alle, die mit Anspruch in die Welt von Westeros eintauchen wollen, ohne dabei in eine Maßanfertigung investieren zu müssen. Es sieht gut aus, trägt sich solide und wirkt in der Gesamtkomposition überzeugend – bleibt aber, wie es deklariert ist, ein Kostüm. Und als solches macht es seine Sache ausgesprochen gut.

Great match
For avid house of dragons fans this costume does not disappoint. The quality is very good. A nice lined coat with the key recognisable and great quality dragon clasps. The sleeves are textured in appearance to represent dragon skin and it had a nice red trim to define the jacket. The belts let it down a little. Being a costume they are lesser quality and quite flimsy but with the (not included pieces) wig and trousers combines with boots it's a real party piece. Quite pricey at £64.99 at the point of purchase this is expected given its recent TV launch. I would suggest sizing up if you a broader in the back.

If it weren't let down by small details this costume would deserve five stars
There are three pieces to dragon rider Daemon Targaryen's costume. The most important, and by far the largest of course, is the tunic. It is front opening and lined throughout. The exterior consists of two different fabrics. It is predominantly made from a material which looks like (but isn't) a very fine and supple leather. The facings are a deep black imitation suede. The buckles down the front are real, and look great, but have a problem. The tunic looks fabulous and is ideal for swaggering about. Alas, the buckles let it down. There are gold medallions on each half face of the tunic which hook together using an insubstantial chain and catch, reminiscent of a small girl's bracelet. It took the passing of several kingdoms to undo the top buckle, trying to get my finger nail on the miniscule lever which operates the catch. So much so that I slipped the tunic on as if it were a T-shirt, without undoing the rest of the catches. Then I couldn't do up the top buckle. Possibly I am just too ham fisted. I shall definitely need a servant to dress me. Sorry, but I have to deduct one star for the appalling catches. Next are the two belts. They are made from an artificial leather which looks extraordinarily realistic. However, instead of functioning as the original belts do, with the long tongue sliding through a loop on the other end, they have been cheaply cobbled together. The belts fasten in the small of the wearer's back using Velcro. Then a a tongue of leather has been sewn on the front, to dangle. The Velcro closure is naff, but the dangling tongues of leather are also badly sewn to the belts; so much so that one tongue is literally hanging by a single thread. It is abysmal workmanship. Deduct one star for this and another for the crude construction. Authenticity would have produced a much better effect and probably reduced manufacturing costs to boot. Nonetheless, I am really looking forward to our Christmas fancy dress ball - once a cobbler has made repairs to the belts. All I shall need is a long blond wig, alas not included. Add one star for my anticipation, This produces a slightly contrived total of three stars. It is a gorgeous looking costume, but it is not cheap! It is such a pity that tiny details have marred what is otherwise a wonderful outfit.

Kein LARP aber gutes Karnevalskostüm
Riesen Produkt ist es wie so oft, für die Materialqualität aus 100 % Polyester eigentlich zu teuer. Aber vernünftige Materialien sind bei Mittelalter-/Fantasykostümen einfach nicht bezahlbar. Man hält hier ein House of Dragons angehauchtes Fantasy Kostüm, für die sause an Karneval wirklich gut zu gebrauchen. Das Ganze ist nicht waschbar, sondern lediglich abwaschbar! Sprich, es sollte wirklich nicht zu wild hergehen. Zusammenfassung. Ich habe schon deutlich schlechte Karnevalskostueme über Amazon bekommen, aber mit einem hochwertigen (und auch sehr hochpreisig) LARP-Kostüm (oder besser gesagt „Gewandung“) ist es natürlich nicht zu vergleichen

Best Rubies costume I've tried
I have not been a huge fan of some of the official costumes that Rubies has put out but this is almost 5 Stars. I just think the price for what you get is a little bit unreasonable. I guess that's the problem with licensed products. It has great detail and the clasps work really well. It is an instantly recognisable look for fans of the show and it could also be repurposed for other period cosplays. The belts are very cheap but easy to fasten. Unfortunately they were a bit small for me but then I am probably closer to a XXL in the lower region.
