Great watercolor sticks
I really love these watercolor sticks, they have a strong pigment.

I love these sticks!
The Daniel Smith paints have already established their superiority among watercolors. The sticks are very highly pigmented and are a higher value than the pans and tubes in my opinion. I slice off a tip to insert into a pan to use with my other pans. I can also use them with a wet brush swiping on the stick for a high pigment loaded brush. The way I have used this color is to add splatters on a dry completed piece to add a galaxy or starry type look. I have purchased several of Daniel Smith’s sticks and am thoroughly pleased with the colors, the pigment saturation, and the ease of use. Daniel Smith has several videos of various artists using these sticks. One is quite amusing where an artist holds many of the sticks in his one hand lined up between each finger using his hand as a type of palette with lots of hues available at once. ???? The outcome was amazing. I have used Neocolor IIs for many years and the process is similar but the quality of Daniel Smith’s are unequal in my opinion. I recommend these sticks to any watercolor lover at any level.

Highly pigmented
I’m still trying to find different ways to work with these pigmented sticks. You do need a robust paper if you want to use them directly on the paper, and the paper needs to be wet. I’ve really enjoyed them on Yupo paper, which when wet, you can really play with abandon with these watercolor sticks. I’ve also used them on Baohong 100% cotton cold press (grain fin) watercolor blocks. Lots of fun. You’ve got to wet the paper though. Baohong cold press (professional grade) can take a good amount of working. I really like these sticks. I also cut little chunks off and affixed them to the inside of an old makeup compact, using gum Arabic as the fixative. It’s a very small compact that can go in your purse without taking up much space or adding much weight. Since these sticks are so highly pigmented, a little goes a long way, especially with small paintings on the go. They’re still new to me and I’m in testing mode with them. I think they’re worth checking out. Start with a stick or two of your favorite colors to see if they add new and good things to your art. Just understand that you cannot use these dry on paper as you would a pastel or water soluble crayon like caran d’ache water soluble crayons.

I like Daniel Smith watercolor sticks.
This stick was highly pigmented with a vibrant q. red. It's very easy to get the paint onto a brush. These sticks aren't quite the bargain that they used to be ($9.46 for 12 ml of paint) but I think they are convenient and lots of fun.

These sticks wet very easily and product a surprising amount of pigment in just a few strokes.

Excellent product but I had to throw it out
Excellent color it would be very useful if you have a way to store it. Unfortunately I had to throw it out because it sort of melted even in temperatures in the 70s That was a challenge for me because I had no way to store it as I traveled. It is an excellent product but just did not fit into my travel watercolor kit without making a mess

Much brighter than expected
After watching several YouTube videos and reviews on yellow colors, I bought this one thinking it would be a warm, mid sunny yellow. I suppose this could be considered a warm yellow compared to Lemon yellow but make no mistake, this is a very BRIGHT shade, pretty much neon level at full strength lol. I’ll be trying Hansa Yellow Deep or maybe yellow ochre instead.

A lot of pigment.
These Daniel Smith watercolor sticks are simply wonderful. No mess, no clean up, dont dry out, and are very pigmented. I will put a drop of water in my palette, rub one end in the water and use. Or you can wet your paint brush and rub the end of the stick or rub directly on wet paper. I learned that I only needed a little because the colors are vibrant. I let them dry before placing them away.
