F-80 Shooting Star model
The P-80 was the United States' first operational jet fighter and was built by the Lockheed Skunk Works team in about 4 months from the design process to the prototype being built. Two Shooting Stars saw very limited service during WW2 in Italy but the most extensive use of the Shooting Star was in Korea during the Korean War. During this time its designation changed from P-80 to F-80. During the Korean War, the F-80 is credited with destroying 17 planes in air combat. Now with some history aside now its time to describe the model. The model as with all the Postage Stamp collection is solid diecast metal for the fuselage of the plane. The wingtip fuel tanks are plastic and can be easily broken off. In fact, mine came with one of the tanks already detached but a little super glue fixed that problem super quick. As in the product description, the scale of the plane is 1/96 scale. This is a great model, a great addition to my collection and a great purchase overall.

An accurate model
I worked on T-33's and this model was the closest to my plane. I also wanted one that flew in the Korean War - it is a good buy.
