Disappointed with the Quality of This Kit
As someone new to fountain pens, I wanted to share my experience with the Ferris Wheel Press kit. My first fountain pen was the Oxford Helix, and I was hoping to branch out by finding a pen that came in different ink colors for correcting my thesis papers — ideally something comfortable to write with. At the time of purchase, the kit cost £27.99 and includes one fine-nib pen and three 5mL ink bottles (green, red, and light blue). Unfortunately, I ran into issues right away. After filling the piston with the light blue ink, I found the color was far too light to read clearly on paper — which made it useless for editing. I tried the other colors and found the red was easiest to read, the green was decent enough, and the light blue was horrendous. That led me to do some testing, and overall, I found several disappointing aspects of the product: First, the pen is made of plastic and feels very cheap in the hand. Given the price — £19.99 for a single pen without ink — I expected a higher-quality build. For comparison, my Oxford Helix cost £7.74, is made of stainless steel, and ink cartridges for it come in packs of 20 for only £4.04. If you're thinking about getting into fountain pens, I’d suggest looking for other budget-friendly alternatives. While Ferris Wheel Press is known for their beautiful packaging and unique inks, I don’t believe their more affordable kits or entry-level pens are worth the investment. To be fair, I also purchased one of their more expensive pens from the Superman collaboration to see if I was the issue. That pen performed similarly to my Oxford Helix, and I did enjoy the sparkly ink — but again, high quality can be found elsewhere for less money. In conclusion, I wouldn’t recommend buying Ferris Wheel Press’s cheaper pens. There are other cheaper alternatives. I think if you are interested in their collaboration pens with LOTR or Superman it might be worth it if you are a fan.

Cheap
Update: apparently the tight lids are an issue with Ferriswheel. They advise using a rubberband to losen the caps. I was able to fill the pen. Dont buy this. First impressions are important and i feel let down. The pen feels cheap and flimsy. The lids on the ink are screwed on so tight im worried ill spill any ink thar they do have. I was excited about a new pen and my first ink swatches now all i can hear is womp womp. You definitely get what you paid for with this set.
