???? First impressions This Black Dahlia building set by C-tronics (sold under Plaxsoon) looks way fancier in person than the box art even suggests. The dark red flowers plus the minty-green vase give it that moody, “gothic bouquet” vibe that feels grown-up, not kiddie. ???? Setup & build The build is more advanced than most flower sets. The internal Technic core is very clever: you push pins through while holding other bits in place, which locks everything together into one solid column. It’s satisfying, but it does mean this is better for a patient teen or adult builder, not a quick kids’ project. ???? What’s in the box Bags are numbered 1–4, and each big bag has smaller inner bags. So instead of a giant mixed pile, you’re basically sorting by bag number and you’re ready to go. The manual includes full part inventories and clear step-by-step diagrams. ???? Performance (fit, quality, display) Brick quality is excellent. Fit is very close to official LEGO: no cracking sounds, no loose connections, and plates sit down flat without warping. The base is especially neat. It almost feels like building a little spaceship, with all the pins and rings wrapped around the core, and it ends up very stable. The vase is wildly detailed compared with most block flower sets. It has layered ribs, color bands, and a proper pedestal, so it looks like an actual display piece, not just “a cylinder with flowers.” ✅ Pros • Brick fit is tight and smooth, very close to LEGO quality • Numbered bags and inner bags mean minimal sorting time • Beautiful, gothic red dahlias that actually look like real dahlias • Vase design is far more detailed than most similar sets • Clever internal structure makes the finished model sturdy • Serious value for the money compared with official branded sets ???? Trade-offs • Some steps are a bit fiddly, especially where you push pins while holding other parts • The internal core uses a lot of colors you never see, which looks messy mid-build but disappears when it’s finished • Not ideal for very young builders without adult help ???? Quick tips / creative uses • Build the vase and core first, then do the flower heads in short sessions so it doesn’t feel repetitive • If you grow dahlias, you can pose a few stems to match your favorite varieties • Great as a “forever bouquet” where real dahlias would get wiped out by the first frost ???????? My take I grow dahlias in my own garden, and these actually look like dahlias, right down to the partial blooms. The deep red petals and that ornate vase make it feel like a premium display piece. With how good the bricks feel and how solid the build is, I honestly don’t see why you’d pay double or triple for something similar when this exists. Who it’s for / not for Perfect for adult builders, dahlia lovers, and anyone who wants a fancy brick bouquet that will not die every fall. Not the best choice for very young kids or someone who only enjoys super simple builds. Pictured daliah is from my garden.
