I've always loved this kit - a lot of great parts.
You can build it stock or heavy duty with the parts provided but don't expect any chrome parts.

Fun
I had built about 40 models in the last 2yrs,, but was spending A LOT of money. So I built all military vehicles. I found building these amt models served nicely. Change paint colors spray the chrome down and you have a Nice military base vehicle. For this I've Only used the tractor trailers. For the price not bad. Its all in the pain

Its a great model to work on with your grandson!
Some of the pieces don't line up correctly, however some trimming and adjustment it fits like a glove.

good looking from what's on the box but bad that it's going to take a whole lot more work to get it looking anywhere like that. only chrome piece was for the chain on the front, everything else you will need a chrome pen for. missing pieces, pieces with may too much flash on them requires a whole lot of cutting before glue. cheap build concerning cost of this kit. took a lot of shortcuts and left certain parts off as it became a longer than usual frustrating build. looks good but only after much more work put into it

Build your own custom truck !!
This kit is very customizable and contains a lot of parts and pieces to build the AMT Kenworth W925 as well. (Just google the instructions to fill in any gaps) Currently I'm adding the AMT Peerless Roadrunner set to build a logging truck. I have noticed a few pieces that need to be trimmed, adjusted, or modified to fit but that's to be expected from older inspired AMT model truck kits. For this reason, I don't recommend this for newbies to modeling until you get some simpler car kits finished. Even if you're not yet at this level, I still recommend picking it up for a future project if the price is right.
