Soft and Colorful, the tones are soft and sweet
So soft and colorful. The music aspect makes this an awesome toy for kids. The tones are soft and not obnoxious like most musical toys. My son had one when he was small and loved it so much he gave one to his new nephew over 20 years later. It's stood the test of time.

Great toy!
Babies LOVE these! Immediately seeing this octopus they are smiling, laughing, cooing and just having so much fun with him. They love that the legs honk too! Must have.

Adorable
This item is soft and super cute. I purchased it for my 8 month old granddaughter to play with in the car (doesn't cry if she hits herself in the head with it!). Cute sounds, would purchase again.

Excellent Toy!
While the reviewer who said it is not very easy to squeeze the arms to create notes is correct, it is still an excellent toy and my son loves it. He loves to squeeze the entire toy and I imagine that by 1 year he should have no problem squeezing the arms himself. When he is fussy I start making some simple music and he loves it. pros: 1) Great introduction to musical notes, especially if you are musically inclined and can name the notes 2) Excellent colors 3) No Batteries 4) smells good. I has a strong vanilla smell although I do worry how it has that smell (I assume some not so friendly chemicals but I do not know for sure) 5) Large! Not some tiny toy that a kid can just throw around Cons: 1) A little difficult to squeeze the arms for a very young child. 12 months and over is probably the average age that a baby will be able to create notes themselves. That's really all...great toy!

great product and great price!
They have this toy in one of the infant rooms at the childcare center where I worked. I really liked it and enjoyed playing with it and making the babies laugh. Also, it smelled really good -- it has a nice vanilla sugar cookie scent that apparently never goes away. I liked it so much, I decided to order one for my own 6-month-old son, and was pleasantly surprised by the price (under $35!). For the brand it is, and how big it is, and just the overall quality of it, I would have expected to pay close to $50. Well, when it arrived, I noticed that with the musical arms (they work/sound like bicycle horns), the lowest note was out of tune with the rest -- it was flat. My husband said it was not a big deal and thought it was silly of me to care about that. But I told him that the one at work is perfectly in tune, this one is just defective. So I exchanged it (customer service for that was great, by the way. UPS came a day or two later to pick it up and the new one arrived I think on the same day). The new one is still sounding slightly flat though. It's not as significantly off as the other one so it's not worth exchanging again but this is why I'm rating it 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, this is a great toy and I would highly recommend it!!! My son loves it! His favorite part so far, is the crinkly sounding handle on the top. He also likes to just sit and inspect the colors & textures on it, and lean in & hug it.

Great floor time toy!
We love this thing. My 3month old will do tummy time and just chat this guy up! Each “arm” is a different tone and it comes with a song book. Been fun to practice and get some tones down. (I think it comes with 2-4 songs. Twinkle twinkle. Mary had a lamb) it’s pretty large and not a great diaper bag toy. I havent tried to wash it but would worry about the arms retaining too much water and not squeaking anymore. I think it’s priced too high but if you can get it on sale it’s an awesome toy and would be a great gift.

Not for the very young child
The description says front and center that a young child won't be able to use this properly, but somehow I missed it and was a little disappointed that my almost 7 month old still can't manipulate the toy to squeak (which, in my mind, is the toy's main attribute). It is certainly cute as a stuffed animal and has some visual interest, but the musical features are thus far lost on her. Even as an adult, I will say it is not the easiest to get each leg to squeak correctly (as in enough to play a tune from the song book) -- sometimes the squeak fails and you have to reposition your hands. So far my child mainly seems to like to suck on and grab the crinkly handle on top, so she does get some use from it, but not as I intended! Maybe as she gets older, but as I mentioned, I still don't think it squeaks as reliably as it should. Oh, and the vanilla scent is quite strong, though we like it.

Every baby needs a “Nigel”! They are worth the $30!
My friend recommended me to get this gift for my 6m baby for Christmas. I looked at it but I didn’t really understand the point. Well I ordered it thinking it was a bit pricey and received it quickly. When I opened it I understood the hype behind this toy! It’s musical and not with batteries! It also is bright with textures on it! When we gave it to our daughter she immediately lost her noodles and began grabbing it, kissing it, hollering at it, and smiling! We have now named him, “Nigel” & Nigel goes everywhere with her! Her dad and I learned how to play songs on him and she loves that too! This is more than your usual stuffed animal or musical toy! Get your babies/toddlers a Nigel it’s a wonderful toy and it’s actually worth the money!
