Great train for any Harry Potter fan!
The media could not be loaded. This train set did not disappoint! The engine and tender are metal while the cars are plastic which is standard for lionel trains so the heavy engine can easily pull the lighter cars. The engine and cars have great detail, and the cars light up. The train sets up very quickly and is easy to use. The lights, sounds, and smoke are really great and making running the train a lot of fun. I tried the Bluetooth app on my phone and it works well, but the remote works the same so you don’t need the Bluetooth if you don’t want to use it. The only downside is if you have the remote off but the track plugged in it makes a beeping noise to indicate it is trying to connect the Bluetooth. I haven’t checked the instructions to see if this can be turned off as it is a bit of annoying sound. The track in the set is a good size (curves to make a 3’ circle and 4 straight pieces), but I got it with 4 extra straight pieces to make sure it could go around the Christmas tree easily.

The media could not be loaded. Amazon had this train for the cheapest price! Everywhere else was $100-$150 more! Great value, wonderful quality, and we played with this train all night for days for Christmas! Easy to assemble, easy to take apart and store for next season! If the lights turn off, it means your train is off track and its ALWAYS an easy fix! Mistakes happen all the time by kicking, or bumps! Just put it back on the track! This train will last for years! Our family loved it and so did social media! LOL! Perfect for around the Christmas tree and was so beautiful to look at at night! Get your kids a Lionel locomotive train! My grandmother always said they were the best and they really are! This one one reminds me of the train set I had as a child! It brought back so many childhood memories! Every child deserves a train set! Get them the best of the best! Lionel!

A cute train set with a little bit of frustration.
Our train arrived exactly as it was detailed on the website, and it runs perfectly. A few quick things of note that people should be aware of. 1) The smoker is turned on by default, on the train section you'll want to turn it off first before use if you are not loading it with smoke fluid before it's first use. This will keep the smoker from getting damaged. The switch is hidden where the conductor would be if it was a real train... It is a little hard to see at first. 2) Some of the car connector sections can be a bit sticky, so it might be difficult to hook your train together... don't worry, it is just stubborn. Good news is it holds them together well, you just need to get them together in the first place. 3) If you do not unplug the tracks, and turn the remote off, it'll make a beeping noise. Don't forget to unplug the track before turning it off. Otherwise it is a lovely train set, and a lot of fun to have running around the tree.

Love Lionel Trains.
I love this Hogwarts Train Set. Now it hasn't been an easy purchase. First one was defective. Amazon facilitated an quick return and replacement. Great derail and a wonderful addition to my collection. Working on a Harry Potter platform!

The train for Harry Potter fans
This Harry Potter train set by Lionel is super nice. I'm not a train buff so I will leave all the technical stuff to the experts and just comment on my set up experience. I'm happy to say my shipment arrived without any visible signs of damage and my out of the box experience was completely trouble free. Everything went together smoothly and my train was happily chuff chuffing along in almost no time at all. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how very nice the train engine is. It is a beautifully detailed high quality piece that pulls the 4 included cars with ease. The engine sound effects are great! The supplied controller is a nice size and weight and it makes its Bluetooth pairing with the engine perfectly every time I turn it on. If you're a Potter fan and you are looking for a quality themed Lionel train set then you should take a look at Hogwarts Express. You'll be glad you did.

Worth it!
Overall, I LOVE THIS SET THE BEST! It has nice weight, features, and it's great to have for Halloween, Christmas, and while watching the Harry Potter movies. I've played with the non-bluetooth, but the default audio is too loud. I purchased the bachmann HO version of the Hogwarts Express in the past, but it's too fragile with no sound, smoke, or lights. If you're a Harry Potter fan, get this set! TrainWorld was my amazon seller and their packaging and shipping was excellent! Things to take into consideration: Grab the locomotive carefully out of the box by avoiding the coupling rods and handrails. New Fastrack can be challenging to connect at first. I suggest wearing gloves or use a towel to avoid scratching your hands. Lionel Fastrack is light, but it's loud; to avoid this use cork, foam, or run it on carpet. Download the app. You'll have more options to control the default volumes of each sound. Add 3-5 drops of smoke fluid and lightly blow into the smoke stack to trigger a better smoke effect. The middle drivewheel feels like a placeholder, as well as, the tender's center wheel. I would not recommend getting a tighter turn radius or else the front truck wheels will derail.

Locomotive arrived damaged. Lionel quality assurance problem
Boy oh boy was I excited to have a train running around my christmas tree. So I ordered this fairly pricy set, it arrives and I'm excited. I gently take the train out and place it on a spare bit of track I had. Then I build the loops supplied with this set, place the locomotive, plug it in, and it won't move. Locomotive's getting power, but the train just won't go. I reposition, inspect what might be the problem, only to find out that the problem is that the side rods connecting the wheels are broken on the right. The metal part actually bowed in and the bits attaching it to the front are on the wrong side of the bits that are meant to hold it in place. Visions of sugarplums and trains around trees ruined. Sending it back for a full refund.

Vale mucho la pena! Altamente recomendable.
Me gustó mucho el tren. Es un poco ruidoso pero está increíble para fans de HP. Altamente recomendable! Y como recomendación, luce mucho más adquiriendo pista adicional. Solo tuve un detalle con una parte que supuestamente venía incluida, de acuerdo al instructivo, pero no era así. Escribí a la empresa y nunca recibí respuesta. el departamento de Servicio al Cliente de Amazon fue muy amable y me ayudó con esto, pero la empresa de Lionel... fatal... La información contenida en el instructivo es muy limitada pero podrá armar el tren sin problemas, solo mucho cuidado con el manejo del tren ya que sí está un poco delicado. La App para manejar el tren vía teléfono está sencilla pero funciona muy bien! Fue una excelente idea ponerle foquitos a la pista y que el tren paseara alrededor de todos los regalos de Navidad!

My first order come with open box, looking like was return before and truth enough didn't work as it should, after I got new set in original and unopen box train works just fine. Overall happy with the product and would recommend

Incredible!!! 5/5!
The media could not be loaded. I have been waiting to buy this Lionel Hogwarts train set for so long. I am in Australia and it was only ever available in America. When I saw it on Amazon and for a huge discount to be delivered to Australia I couldn’t help myself. I also got the additional dementor carriage. It is incredibly well made and I love all the sound effects. The steam out of the train is adorable too. I can’t wait to put it under my Christmas tree this year.

Wonderful train set. A true collectors item.
Very pleased with this. Lots of detail on the locomotive and the coaches. I collect Lionel trains and this is definitely a keeper. Highly recommended!
