Very Good Train. I recommend this train for both kids and adults.
I am editing my review because of how quickly the batteries run out. This is a good train at an unbeatable price. Although the price is low, the quality is impressive. I have owned two of these trains and I love them both. It's only been a few years, so I can't attest to how it will hold up in 10 years +, but I have to say I'm pretty confident it will last a long time. You can just tell it's a good quality set when you pick up the cars and feel their weight. The controls are very simple and they're perfect for either a kid or an adult. I know it's mostly for kids, but I'm an adult and I just love it. I couldn't really afford to invest $400+ for my first train, and this one looks wonderful around the tree. It's awesome to have the remote which lets you control the speed, direction and play sound effects. If you're looking for a nice gift which can be used every Christmas for years to come I highly recommend this train. Also just so you know before purchasing: this is the cheaper model, so you won't be able to add additional cars like in the more expensive models of the Polar Express, but you can extend the track as long as you want, just make sure you buy the Ready to Play track. I rated volume control 1 stars, because there is no volume control, but it's a train and I wasn't really expecting that anyway. Ideally there would be a volume control, but it's ok as trains are supposed to make noise. Unfortunately the batteries don't seem to last that long, so just be prepared that you'll need to have a massive amount of batteries if you want to run it during the whole holiday season. Update: I think I've figured out that what happens: I think the batteries inside the controller weaken because I can't use the sound FX right now, but it still controls the train. When I turn the train on it doesn't have the train sounds either, but it still runs. I'm certain this will be fixed replacing the batteries, but I'm mentioning this because it is kind of a cool unintentional feature, because now I have the train still running and it isn't as noisy. So I think the batteries on the train last a while, but you just may need to replace the controller ones. I definitely recommend the train!

Quality Item at a Great Price
Excellent quality train! My son is obsessed with trains and recently discovered The Polar Express. My husband and I discussed grabbing this for him for Xmas, but we were able to snag one from Amazon Warehouse at a great price, so we purchased early -- what an excellent decision! To start, this train is way larger than I anticipated, which was a great surprise! The quality is excellent and it's incredibly easy to set up -- everything I would expect from a Lionel product. Ignore the reviews saying it's "too hard to keep this on the track" and "the train keeps popping off the track. Some people obviously have no idea how a train works and it shows -- you have to be smarter than the toy. You literally line up the wheels on the track, and you're off for hours of playtime. It took us all of 60 seconds to connect all four cars together and line them up on the tracks. The train does not pop off the tracks, regardless of whether its going full speed or super slow. The sounds are great quality, and the controls are user friendly. My only complaint is that the battery door on the locomotive is a bit annoying to get off. Otherwise, this is a solid investment -- it is worth the price you pay even when it is offered at full price. We are considering purchasing another as an Xmas gift for family, we love it so much! 5 stars all the way!

Fun train for the kids, great addition to our Christmas tree!
Overall, I am pleased with the train. We purchased it as a special pre-Christmas present for our boys to put around the tree. They are in love with trains, the Polar Express, etc. Needless to say, they were very excited about the train. On the plus side, the train itself feels very sturdy. Battery life has been very good so far - we've been running it a couple weeks so far and i've only had to replace the remote batteries (AAA) once. The locomotive runs on C batteries and have not had to replace them yet. The sounds are good and not overly annoying, but wish it did have a couple more phrases it would say, or maybe even music. We have not had the issue of the track coming apart as some people have mentioned. We have ours on a wood floor, so I wonder if that is more of an issue if you will be running it on a rug / carpet. After a few days of use, I noticed that the wheels were spinning and it was making a loud popping sound (most likely from the gears). This was mainly when trying to go in reverse. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that four of the wheels have black rubber bands (or traction tires, whatever you want to call them). I noticed some small black rubber shavings here and there around the track. We initially started with a circle configuration. One of the bands was a little crooked, and I was able to slide it back into place relatively easily. We continued to have the problem of wheels slipping in reverse, but was generally fine going forward. I am happy to report that a quick, painless call to Lionel had us a replacement engine in just a few days. We have not had any more issues so far with the replacement locomotive. We did add some straight pieces to make a 'square circle' hoping that not going in a constant circle might reduce any wear on the traction tires. So far, so good. My only concern with it at this point is the test of time. Will this last forever? Probably not. But hopefully we can get a few seasons out of it. Remember to take the batteries out for storage! I would recommend it based on Lionel backing their product without a hassle.

LIONEL POLAR EXPRESS READY TO GO TRAIN SET
Present for my grandson's 6th birthday. He loves trains. What a fantastic train set. Was everything I expected and much more. He loves the movie and was wowed by the gift. This is a great gift for any young child who loves trains. Good quality gift. Delivery was faster than expected. Amazon met all my expectations and I have since purchased another two quality gifts for Xmas. They were ordered 8 December, shipped 8 December delivered to my home 9th December. Never experienced such excellent service. Thankyou.

Très réaliste
Très réaliste, dommage que l'on ne puisse pas couper le son car le bruit du train en continu est assez fatiguant. Utilisez plutot des piles rehargeables car elles se vident assez vite.
