Great craft for young kids and older - but adult assisted for ironing!
My 4 1/2 year old is just starting to like Perler beads. We use the biggies because even as an adult, I think they're easier being larger in size. A couple notes - you have to buy the right size kit / tray / board for the biggie beads (the biggie tray is about 6" x 6"). The kits come with 2-sided designs to follow although some I had a hard time telling what the design was. Typically a tray or tub of beads comes with one or two sheets of ironing paper. If you are looking at Perlers for the first time, know that this is sort of an adult assisted project, because at the end of this project the adult is to iron the beads together (it takes about 1 minute each side). ...Someone told me I could use parchment paper if I would run out of the ironing sheets. Wax paper apparently doesn't work. I haven't tried anything other than what comes with the beads and I use each sheet over again until it starts to look thinned out or rips. To make digging for the bead colors more enjoyable than digging for the bead colors, invest in a $7 divided tray from Amazon or a craft store and take the time to separate the colors. I've seen the regular sized perler beds sold in the divided trays for a little more money than a tub. I couldn't get my just turned 4 year old into this but almost 5 and she likes it alot. Most craft stores carry perlers you just have to look for all things "biggie" if going for the larger beads. One thing about the biggies I wish would change is that I wish they would sell the individual color beads. I have only seen regular (small) sized beads sold by color. But overall, very happy with this craft - the trays are big enough for little hands and the instructions are short and easy to understand.

Nice little set
This is awesome! The little peg board and variety of patterns are just great. The patterns stay in the board well and it's easy for my 4 year old to use. The biggie beads are great, too. I originally bought him a set with the regular sized beads, but those were pretty frustrating for him because it's so easy to dislodge beads. Even as an adult, it's a little tricky. The biggie beads are perfect for a young child, though. We will try the small beads again in a couple of years.

This is good for younger kids
The pattens were easy to follow They were colorful and interesting for younger kids. The trays were very sturdy and easy to use This was just the trays and patterns for Perler biggie beads. You have to order the beads separately. This is not a complaint as I knew that when I ordered it it is just a bit of information for other people to know I was very happy with my purchase and would buy this again

Perfect size for the biggie beads
We got our granddaughter biggie beads for her birthday this year. She absolutely loves them. Perfect for her little hands to make designs with.

Fun for older toddlers/preschoolers
My five year old daughter uses the regular perler beads...but my two year old son always wanted to play too; so I was glad to find larger perler beads for younger kids! This set doesn't include the beads; just the board and designs. These are really neat bc the board is clear and the paper designs clip into the board, so they can just match up the correct color beads on the proper pegs. Even my five year old enjoys playing with this tray, so it's not just for really young kids. My two year old is actually a little young for it- he enjoys playing with it but never actually completes a whole design...just builds for a little and then dumps it out to play with the beads and sort them- so he builds for the fun of it; rather than to see a finished product. The designs are cute and they seem to to be geared toward both boys and girls.

Works great!
My 4 year old loves working with the Perler beads and keeps trying to use the smaller beads since that is what we have patterns for, but this solved our issues. She can now easily make her own creations without much help and feel independent like her 7 year old sister. Some of the other reviewers said that it's hard to see what the pattern should be, but after looking at them for 30 sec-1 minute I could tell. The patterns are double sided so the cards all fit in the tray together so easy storage. I keep all our Perler bead items in a basket so that it's easy to pull out whenever we want to use them. Perfect rainy or cold day activity for our house!

exactly as described
item arrived quickly and is exactly as described, it is large and easy for a 5 year old boy to see and work with, although because they are so large it takes a really long time to finish one. I was pleased with the variety of patterns.
