Great Toy for ?~5+ Year Old?
Dextrous Three year old who uses other simpler PlayDoh kits on their own loved it, >>BUT couldn’t operate this on their own. Required continuous adult assistance to play with it. Kid pulled the compression column / piston apart then couldn’t get it reassembled. Couldn’t slide the heads in & out of locking base slot. Would crank handle past maximum compression range causing gears to pop & possibly eventually break. Great idea. Great toy. ONLY for older children.

My Grandson is delighted.
My three year old grandson loves this toy, and plays with it all the time. It's very well made, and after a short while, figured out how to reload it by himself, which goes to show how well conceived this design is. A big yes recommendation, and don't forget to buy extra Play Dough.

Really cute, kids love it, overall an awesome toy
Super cute, my boys ages 2 and 4 love it. Easy to crank, other sets are more difficult and I have to do it for them so it’s nice they can do it on their own. My biggest complaint is that the clippers/buzzer is useless. It’s impossible to get it to consistently buzz while cutting their hair. I wish it was made with a little button you could press while using it. Instead you have to put pressure on two little metal spots on the end of it while using and it doesn’t work well. My second complaint, which is minor, is that it’s harder to clean than others we have and with the cutting of hair there are tons of teeny tiny pieces of play doh all over the place! Minor issue, but irritating. Overall it’s a super cute concept and would buy again.

Not for 3 year olds
It was a great product, however I don't think its for 3 year old's. We had a ton of fun though.

Helps to develop fine/gross motor skills while having fun and being creative!
This arrived yesterday and my 4 1/2 year old daughter and 3 year old son love it! My daughter only needed to be shown once how to use it and has required very little assistance. After my daughter does their hair she loves playing with them and making up stories. My son needs a little more hands on assistance but I think it's great practice in regards to gross motor development (for example, turning the crank). My son has been in early intervention though so this may not be true for all three year olds. With some hands on help from myself or hubby, my son has had lots of fun with this toy and it has definitely helped him to development hand strength and build upon his fine/gross motor skills; most importantly, it is increasing his self confidence while having fun! In response to some of the other reviews, this product is for 3+ year olds. It is Play-Doh, so yes, there is going to be a bit of a mess regardless. Take advantage of the opportunity to have your kids help you pick up all of the little pieces when you can! In my experience, regardless of the type of Play-Doh set you purchase, Play-Doh is bound to get stuck or lodged within it. I don't go crazy cleaning it to perfection after use unless it's impacting how it functions.

It's fun but very messy
This was good in theory. My 3 year old absolutely loved this but overall it was hard to for her play this on her own. She is able to turn the lever to push out the playdoh and can use the tools to cut and shave the hair. She loved making braids with it. There's a moustache mold on the back of the chair which she also loved. I gave this toy 3 stars for the following: - It is hard to remove the person from the stand. There is a bit of a trick to it and once you get it, it's easy but it must be done by an adult. My 3 year old does not have that kind of strength. - It turns the playdoh into a thousand little pieces and most of the time I'm sitting there putting the playdoh back together. -Tiny playdoh bits get stuck in the head and my daughter likes me to clean the head entirely before she starts again. -Your playdoh colours will merge in a second and before you know it, you'll only have brown playdoh.

Fun but hard to use and clean
Fun product but cleaning the playdoh out of all the little holes and grooves takes so much time. It’s also a little hard for my toddler to use on her own- very hard for her to get the playdo person off the chair again as they have to remember to wind the handle backwards etc
