Great puzzle for steam and rail enthusiasts
Review for: ‘The House of Puzzles Checking the Line Jigsaw - 1000 Piece Jigsaws For Adults, Artist Illustrated, Scenic Landscape, Deluxe Puzzle Gifts’ This is another great jigsaw puzzle from ‘House of Puzzles’. It features two steam locomotives (The Flying Scotsman and The Caledonian) stopped at platforms in a station – I can’t comment on how accurate the steam engines are. There are a couple of rail workers ‘checking the line' and some onlookers. The picture is interesting, especially for steam and rail enthusiasts, and has lots of colour and shapes to help identify where the pieces fit. Happily, there are no huge solid blocks of colour where all the pieces look the same, which helps make it easier for beginners to complete – however, it’s still challenging enough to keep more experienced puzzle enthusiasts entertained. The puzzle has 1000 pieces and measures 19x27” (48x69 cm) and is good quality – all the pieces are cleanly cut with no niggly little snags that need to be separated, and they fit easily into place. There is a poster of the picture inside the box. The Supplier offers a “Lost Piece Replacement Service” (only available via UK postal services) - just complete the form attached to the leaflet in the box, and post it with a self-addressed envelope to the address provided. The current price is £15.53, which includes a 3% discount. The puzzle is packaged very nicely in a sturdy box and would make a great gift.

Great quality!
The moment you pick up a House of Puzzles jigsaw, the word "quality" comes to mind. The box is beautifully designed, and the puzzle pieces are the perfect thickness, fitting together seamlessly. The image is sharp and vibrant, and the inclusion of a large reference picture in the box is a brilliant bonus, making assembly much easier. This jigsaw feels like a premium brand, comparable to Ravensburger. The image has been carefully designed for puzzling... avoiding large empty areas like sky or trees, and ensuring that every section is detailed and enjoyable to piece together. The price feels right for such a quality puzzle.

This review is for the The House of Puzzles Checking the Line Jigsaw - 1000 Piece Jigsaws For Adults, Artist Illustrated, Scenic Landscape, Deluxe Puzzle Gifts £15.53 at the time of review Made from card, some of the pieces have not been fully cut through and have some excess backing paper on them. The pieces are also different sizes and shapes. The colours are good and there is no bleeding that I could see. I have a couple of niggles though. First off, the box is a little small to be able to look through the pieces when inside the box because there is so little space to work with. A lot of the better known brands of jigsaws have larger boxes and they are easier to work with. My second niggle, and this is purely personal, is that these puzzle pieces are not fully interlocking. They do say there are some pieces with unique shapes, but I seem to have a puzzle where all of the pieces are unique. What I mean is that they are all weird shapes, not square or oblong, and not all of them have lugs on them to lock them onto another piece. These weird shapes also mean that it is much more difficult to pick out the edges, because there are lots of pieces with what seems to be a straight edge, which aren’t actually edge prices at all. The other downside to non-interlocking pieces is that I tend to assemble a lot of pieces of similar colours or shapes, such as roofs or trains as in this puzzle, off the main jigsaw board and then lift them into place on the puzzle board. You can’t do that with this puzzle because a lot of the pieces don’t actually physically connect to the others and so fall out when lifting them. 4 stars from me. If you like your puzzle to not lock together and like irregular shapes and sizes, then this might be a good buy for you, but sadly, for me, it’s not.

Very high quality puzzles
I'm really pleased with the quality of these puzzles. They are certainly some of the best ones we've had. They're really nicely cut and the pieces almost snap together. The pictures printed on the puzzles are very unique and the level of detail is very nice. Some of them are reasonably challenging. I had a lot of fun spending time doing them, and the special shaped pieces add to that enjoyment. I was particularly impressed to see that the company provides a missing piece service, so you can get any bits you happen to lose. If you like quality puzzles then these are definitely worth a look.

Lovely jigsaw
This is a lovely good quality jigsaw. The box looks great. The actual picture itself will appeal to train enthusiasts. Especially having the Flying Scotsman. The design of the picture is quite retro and is what has appealed to me. The actual jigsaw itself is brilliant, good quality and everything seemed to fit fine. No issues with any misshaped pieces
