Der WATERMAN Caène ist ein wertiger Füller aus Metall. Schon beim ersten in die Hand nehmen fühlte ich mich wohl. Die unflexible 18K Goldfeder schrieb auf anhieb flüssig. Dieses Schreibgerät ist extrem gut ausbalanciert. Die Kappe lässt sich sicher und tief aufstecken und verändert kaum die Balance. Die Kappe schließt mit einem Mechanismus, der auch beim Lamy 2000 verwendet wird. Der Tintenleiter ist vollständig integriert und nicht sichtbar. Die Qualität insgesamt ist ohne Fehl und Tadel. Diese Version des Carène hat eine Kappe aus Metall. Das Muster ist optisch sehr angenehm. Das gewählte Blau rundet das Gesamtbild ab. Fotos geben die optische und technische Qualität unzureichend wieder. Wer gerne eine andere Federstärke hätte, kann sich nach dem Kauf eines neuen Carène an WATERMAN Kundenservice wenden um kostenfrei eine andere Feder installieren zu lassen.

Just perfect!
Looks beautiful with the shimmering cap and glides smoothly over the paper, making my writing look great. Also good for sketching! Bought the fine nib because my writing is pretty narrow and it was the right decision:)

Perfect design, great writer
This pen has a great design — probably one of the most elegant I’ve ever seen. The inlaid nib looks amazing and it has, what I assume to be, a massive feed behind it that can hold a gallon of ink by itself. The nib is well polished, the paint lacquer is consistent, and the size is very comfortable. My initial delivery had an all too common issue with Carènes, which is that the the pen’s tail does not align perfectly with the nib. There was also a baby’s bottom to the nib. This happens here more likely because the nib is slightly squared off (very cool) but makes the allowable margin of error when polishing much lower. The nib wasn’t absolutely horrible, but it always gave a hard start right after uncapping. There would also be be a skip whenever the feed couldn’t keep up a gushing flow; so about every 10 words or so with moderate to fast pace. Fortunately, I received a hassle free replacement from Amazon and it’s perfect! The tail aligns and it writes flawlessly — my new favourite pen.

Unusual design of nib and highly comfortable to write with
Be aware that Fine nib here is more Medium than just Fine. Writes very smooth and soft. I like it a lot. The colour and design of this pen are very eye-catching and cool!

Vielleicht war es blauäugig, bei dem Preis zu denken, es wäre Neuware zu einen guten Angebot, aber ich habe wirklich sehr genau geschaut und nirgends einen Hinweis gefunden, dass es sich um einen gebrauchten Füller handelt. Das geht gar nicht. Ich werde ihn wohl behalten, weil er nicht beschädigt zu sein scheint, aber vermeintliche Neuware in so einem Zustand (siehe Bilder) zu verkaufen, ist im Grunde eine Frechheit. Erst recht, weil es sich ja trotz allem um ein teures Produkt handelt.

Super Füller - Leider hin und wieder Tintenaussetzer
Ich kann den Füller nur empfehlen. Leider kommt es hin und wieder beim Schreiben vor, dass es Tintenaussetzer gibt. Man muss dann den Buchstaben oder Zahlen / Symbole nochmals schreiben. Ich hatte mir auch den Pelikan M600 gekauft um ein Vergleich zu haben. Bei Pelikan kam es zu 5 x so vielen Tintenaussetzer. Ein guten Alternativ-Füller ist der Pelikan Souverän M800 Premium Black. Hier ist ein leichtes Kratzen zu hören. Um auf den Waterman Füller zurückzukommen. Super schön mit viel Zubehör kann mit Patronen oder über den Indikator mit einem Tintenfass gefüllt werden. Tintenpatronen werden vom Hersteller mitgeliefert - TOP - liegt super in der Hand und schreibt toll. Fast wie ein Tintenroller. Einziger Nachteil die Tintenaussetzer.

One of the very best ever made.
I am fountain pen collector. In other words – completely mad about writing instruments..This pen is one ob the best ever made. Comfortable and fits in hand. Best for daily and formal work. It's solid. However, as for the nib – FINE means medium-fine. It could not be compared with Japan standards for nib. The best part of it, is that it slides over the paper. There is a negligible feat-back, no pronounced line variation, but it's gorgeous and classy. I'am 100% sure that the production of this pen (only as materials) is less than $20 (inc. the metal, ca. 0.35g 18K gold and factory expenses), but all we, fountain pen lovers, pay for the distinction and the astonishment we get when this pen is in your hand! The time is money, the money are promises, but this is real master piece. BTW, very ingenious one.

Reliable, glassy, smooth daily writer
This is a very smooth fine nib that writes well out of the box. No hard starts no cartridge converter issues. No hard starts. No adjustments were needed. The deep burgundy brass lacquered finish is perfect. In hand, the pen feels slightly weightier than any Lamy Safari or TWSBI ECO pen I own. I first inked the pen with a Waterman Blue ink and made sure to saturate the feed properly. Read the instructions in the manual. I have used it over a period of two months and refilled the pen 4-5 times since. I deliberated between a medium and a fine nib for the Waterman Carène. Although generally I prefer medium nibs from LAMY or on gel or rollerball pens. The fine nib works well for me as a regular daily writer. I write mostly on modest fountain pen friendly notepad paper; from Rhodia, Fabriano, Campus Kokuyo to Maruman. The Japanese papers, Maruman or Kokuyo provide a smooth glide-like writing experience. 80gsm Rhodia, although popular with many fountain pen users; tends to feel a slight waxy on any fountain pen to my experience. The Carène puts lines on the page easily, with an easy, generous, smooth consistency. The internal ink feed for the Carène is a very long generous feed (You can’t disassemble it; but you can watch YouTube videos or pictures of people who have cracked the barrels open). In other words, when refilling the cartridges it’s good to prime the feed with ink since it will hold a little bit more ink for you between refills than what you see in the cartridge. I have not experienced any dry out issues even with the pen uncapped for an hour. A pen you can enjoy writing with at work, at home, or to sign that important document.
