much of my living is made in the entertainment industry as an i.a.t.s.e. union rigger. consequently i have found this chalk to be very useful, and not terribly expensive, given the variety of colors included. for concert rigging applications, whether arena, shed, or outdoor stage, as well as for convention and other special event applications, this chalk performs flawlessly, allowing the riggers to layout four square games, hopscotch, and floor cartoons deriding musical acts and vendor clients, as well as our own employer management, union representation, and one another. a brief soak in a cup of water, or temporary storage in a tupperware with a moist sponge, will result in less mottled, more vivid colors, and greater longevity of game grids and illustrations. the range of colors included nicely accommodates different concrete floor and synthetic stage decking finishes, allowing for high contrast in situations like bright sun on outdoor gigs (very rare), or four square played from beams at fifty feet in smaller college gymnasium type venues (over fifty feet, four square gets too slow to present a challenge). this is not the least expensive chalk out there, and if all one requires is yellow or white railroad chalk, then there are better deals to be found. if however, one sees the obvious merit in being able to provide clearly visible concentric rings, and point values, for dropped-hard-hat bullseye games, as well as elaborate compass roses for arena shows in the round, this is the product one is looking for. i should furthermore note that, despite my reference to the "union" application of this chalk, it is also suitable for non-union applications.
