Awesome space themed train set - a little quibble about stickers
We have been collecting trains since my son fell in love at 2 years old and he and his brother absolutely love this hape mars space themed set. It is beautiful and is of comparable quality to Brio train sets in quality and design. My one gripe about this set is it had a lot of stickers and did not contain any instructions for where to place the stickers. I wound up having to study like 10 different pictures on the box to figure out sticker placement which was annoying and really makes me want to subract a star from the set, but I am going to leave as a quibble and still stick with my 5 star review. Very nice train set.

Another amazing hape toy!
This Hape railroad Mars set is amazing! It's so much fun to set up and play with. It's compatible with other Hape railroad/train sets, so you're able to expand it if you want. The quality of the pieces is top notch. Love it!

Super cute
As soon as I saw this I knew I had to get it for my son since it puts together his love for these wooden track sets and space but, unfortunately, this one failed to peak his interest past the initial set up phase. I could say that was due to him playing with the pieces while I was figuring out how to put the set together since it wasn’t a very quick process. My box had arrived sans instructions leaving me to gather what I could from the picture on the box and the Amazon purchase page. It comes with little glow in the dark stickers, and a lot of them, either with extra or I guessed wrong (my guess was they went on all the track pieces) with also no indication where they belonged. Now that I think of it none of his wooden track sets had come with instructions since you don’t really need them but on this set it was a little difficult to just place them wherever you wanted due to the mixture of plastic and wooden pieces and them not really fitting in a lot of other ways. What my son did like about this set was the freedom allowed to actually interact with it a little more than others. It came with a space ship, a little man with moving arms and legs not just a wood block with a painting of a person on it, a train that resembles the monorail at Disneyland and a little control tower with a futuristic bridge that lifts up allowing the train to pass under. I think it’s a very durable, quality built set but I’ve always been a fan of almost anything from Hape. I love what they’re trying to offer with their toys versus other companies. There’s just something more wholesome about them like they don’t have to have all these lights and sounds on their toys because they don’t need to to get kids to play with them. That’s how I saw myself raising my son with things that helped him use his imagination while he sat there entertaining himself with his wooden toys while I sat beside him enjoying his company and my cup of tea until I’d learned that the reason none of those things happened was because he has ADD. Something that we actually do share and why the enjoying a cup of tea scenario never would have worked in the first place because I can’t ever write a review in one sitting. And why he has trouble playing with anything for any real amount of time. That may have been an unnecessary over share unless you found it helpful.

Great Quality
This is an extremely well made train set for toddlers. It's easy to tell the quality difference between Hape and other brands. As others have said, it is pricey but worth it when you think about the hours your kids will play with this toy. At that point, you realize it's much better to spend the money and have a long lasting set. You can't go wrong with this and it would make a fantastic gift!

Great novelty set!
Really cool! Nice quality, fits other wooden train track sets (Melissa & Doug, Thomas, etc.), really fun incorporation of trains with space toys--opens up new ideas of integrated play subjects. Lots of cool pieces. Made a great gift for my nephew. Highly recommend this set!

Very good quality with a price tag though
We have several toys from Hape, and they are usually high quality, and made of wood (almost 100% wood), same for this set too, it is well-made product but with soem quality plastic parts as well. This is a new release with product ID E3798. There’s also another set called the Mars Exploration Rail Set, which includes more parts and is priced higher (see my picture). If your kids enjoy this set, they’ll likely love the other one as well. I’m even considering getting it for my son. For quality, the plastic parts are thick and smooth, and the solid wood rails are smooth and fits each other very well. The set has a few moving parts, like the “bridge” (which is actually a launch pad, but my son calls it a bridge), the Mars train, and a spaceman that fits inside the rocket. The only downside is that this set isn’t very budget friendly. So I move 0.5 stars, and I’m giving it 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

Space Trains!
My knee-jerk reaction is that maybe this isn't the best value. I guess if you start looking at things like this priced individually(train cars, buildings, risers, track pieces), it's probably about right. You just see other sets that are a lot cheaper. The quality and/or detail is higher on this as compared to the cheaper sets, though. I guess what it all comes down to is what your children are into and how much happiness it brings them. They may be just as entertained by a cheaper set. But if they're into trains and space... it's a space train! I think mine will love it! I would have like to have seen a guide as to where the stickers go. There are instructions, but the sticker placement is not in there. You can look at the box to see where some of them go. I would feel better at a slightly lower price, too. But I'm cheap. That's my only criticism. Otherwise, a solid set that I feel like will bring a lot of joy and with high replay value.

Fun set
Good little space train set. Built well , sirens with other similar train cars. My son loves the moving bridge and rocket ship.
