Blast Off!
I really like this space rocket set versus others because it has more of the implied action (if you will) of including the actual liftoff blasting fire and smoke! I like that it includes a light kit to illuminate the flames and highlight some of the "exposed internals" of the rocket. Being able to see internals makes it waaaay better than just a plain rocket. The smoke portion at the bottom can be a bit tedious with so many odd shaped pieces going various directions, but overall an awesome display piece!

Definitely a model, not a toy
First off this thing looks fantastic!! the lighting inside the base is powered with a standard USB and there are two small lights, one in each clear section, that can be independently controlled on/off with a twist of the rocket shaft section but those are powered by a small little internal battery that doesn't look readily accessible with some significant effort to dismantle the special block so for display I'll be sticking with just the lighted base most of the time. The model itself was difficult to assemble but I blame that more on the instructional procedures moreso than the design with the exception of the base which is just straight up a pain to assemble the keeping the small parts from popping off while moving the model or adding other components is near impossible! Additionally, the red/orange/yellow translucent blocks on the base are poorly designed and have a tendency to fall off two faces of the flame base since they are barely held on with only a few studs. The rest of the rocket went pretty fast but again the instruction procedures, the specific arrangement of steps and technique, has some major flaws. I found it easier to build the section with the door separate from the round base then put it all together towards the end. There's also a rod included that is 16 studs long and the instructions say it should be 12 so that gave me some pause but in the end you can make it work without cutting it. I really wished the instructions, which are accurately to scale to show part sizes, showed the exact spacing of components on that long rod because it would have made the final assembly SO much easier than removing, measuring, and partially rebuilding some pieces to fit it all in there. There were also so many extra parts from the 01 set bags that I went back through the instructions to make sure I didn't miss where those parts went! Turns out, I hadn't but I was shocked to see so many extras (see the yellow parts tray that were left over from the base build alone). Now as the title suggests, this is really a model, not a toy for kids in any way as the durability just isn't there even though the various stages do indeed separate as the product photos and box suggest. There were also some neat details added in the operable door above the clear sections, and the detailing in the clear sections was really nice especially with all the decals already printed onto the bricks so no stickers - YEAH!!! That's why I gave it four stars instead of the three I would have based on the instructions and assembly procedures and fragile parts on the final model.
