I just wish they made a 3-ft size piece. I bought a bunch of these only things I can't figure out how to make them work with other types of track. I've got the conversion thing but I still don't understand how they work and what kind of track they work with. Because I want to get three foot pieces

Power lok track is definitely superior to most HO track. Easy to connect, secure fit, no derailing.
I use Kato track for my N gauge layout but I have been very pleased with Power Lok for the HO gauge. Unlike brands that require separate track connectors that can be difficult to connect correctly and that wear over time, Power Loc fits entirely differently leaving it free of the power issues and derailing that is common with some of the other types of track. Walthers and Lifelike make Power Lok and while both do a good job I tend to prefer Walthers for their overall quality. Power Lok can be a bit difficult to separate but once you get the hang of it it is not a problem. Even at the slightly higher cost, the benefits far outweigh the costs.
