It is the cheapest locomotive on the market and it workes very well for the money.
The media could not be loaded. Out of the box worked and ran, very heavy weight HO Scale I love it 8 wheel drive 2 motor 15 20 carts easy pull capacity.

Beautiful locomotive. Worth the money

Excellent engine at a reasonable price
This Walthers diesel runs smooth and quiet. Even with used life like track and old transformer. Fast enough to throw light cars off the rail. I will weight them and get a larger layout. Excellent upgrade to hobby quality. Be sure to lube engine as instructed. I use Rem oil. Will pull all I have and more.

Broken Truck
This engine didn't run at all. I took it apart, because I didn't want to wait for yet another replacement locomotive for two weeks. The top of the rear (and front as well) truck has two tabs that are forced into the upper part of the chassis. There the train rest and turns on the truck. What I did was drilled out where the tab was, and screwed the truck to the chassis. I also put a Soundtraxx 885824 Tsunami2 decoder in it, and it runs great. Has good slow speed, and sounds great as well. The broken tab might be a fluke, and I might buy another one. I noticed they raised the price, so maybe not, because I bought it for the low price.

Wow! Great pulling power, Smooth operation
Walthers builds high quality products ! All wheels provide electrical pickup, all wheels provide propulsion, great low to high speed operation (as long as your DC power pack provides a smooth ramp up in voltage). I liked the locomotive so much, I have purchased five more Walthers Trainline locomotives.

Great value and runs fine
I bought this to run old legacy Tyco tracks with a 30 year old transformer. It runs just fine. One thing I noticed is it seems to lack a gradual ramp up speed. It seems to go from a full stop to 1/4 speed with nothing in between. It could be the transformer, but the legacy Tyco engine I have doesn't behave in this manner with the same transformer. Maybe that's the difference between a $50 Walthers engine and a 100+ dollar comparable Bachmann engine. For my use, small oval around my Christmas tree, it works just fine.

Reliable
Walthers trains are top notch quality much better than bachmann which is overrated and shoddy been using walthers for ten years runs quiet enormous pulling power no problems reliable..
